So as a massive lover of beauty subscription boxes I was delighted to be asked to review the July Little Known Box. I reviewed their June Box and was so impressed that I was really looking forward to receiving this one to see what pampering treats were inside.
For those of you that don’t already know about Little Known Box, they are a beauty box subscription company that have a slightly different offering and approach to other beauty boxes where instead of filling it with well-known brands they pack their boxes full of Little known niche and emerging brands for you to discover and enjoy.
Little Known Box is still relatively new on the beauty box scene having only lunched a few months ago, but so far each box has been fabulous and packed full of many full size treats that they really are starting to rival other leading beauty boxes within the same price range that seem to send out really small samples each month. So far in each box I have had at least 3 full-sized products in each box as well as luxury travel size products too and they offer a great variety of products including make up, skin care, hair care and beauty tools.
So into the July Box….I was so impressed with June’s box and this month hasn’t disappointed either. It had such a good variety of products, 2 skin care, two nail varnishes, 1 x hair product and 1 x make up product as well as a couple of free sample sachets. Once again the box arrived absolutely beautifully packaged, it really is such a simple yet elegant design and it looks so classy and expensive. I think beauty boxes are really meant to be a monthly treat you look forward to so I think presentation is almost as important as the contents and I think Little Known Box has got their presentation spot on!
So first up we have two nail polishes from HJ Manicure. This is the first time that Little known box have put a nail polish in their box and I was really happy with the colours that were sent to me. Generally I prefer to use gel on my nails, but I do use normal nail polish sometimes when I’m after a super quick mani – and I will definitely use this for a mani on my toes. I got Tropical Sunset which is a gorgeous red / coral colour and pink bikini which is a super cute baby pink! I’m yet to try these out as I recently had a mani and pedi professionally done as part of my birthday pamper package from my boyfriend but I’m defo looking forward to using them. These are definitely perfect colours for summer and retail at £9.50 each.
soapNskin – So I’m fast becoming a skincare addict and now have quite the collection but a girl can never have too much right?! And anyway I love discovering new brands and products to fall in love with, so I was interested to try this out. soapNskin body butter is not like a body butter texture I’ve come across before, it’s almost like a thick mousse, it very thick but you just scoop a little out on your fingers and warm between your palms and smooth over your face or body. With ingredients of Lavender and Lime and Calendula oil, this is a nourishing treat for the skin. I used this for the first time today after a lovely long hot bath, and it smells and feels lovely and I will definitely continue to use this. This product retails at £6 which I think is great as a little goes a very long way. I would love to try some other products from their range. Shop soapNskin and get 10% off orders over £15.00
Zerreau Waterless Towel Off Shampoo – ok so this is a totally new product and concept to me…foam to clean your hair without even washing it! So as we are all so busy these days sometimes we are all looking for that product that gives our hair a quick refresh without washing it – normally people would reach for dry shampoo, so could it be that this foam will push that dry shampoo to one side?! Quite possibly. It smells lovely, like apples and I’m definitely looking forward to using this when needed. I’m intrigued to see how well it works and if it does actually leave my hair feeling fresh and clean. This product would be absolutely ideal to pack in your bag on campring trips or for festival folk! I think you would get quite a few uses out of this bottle. Visit Zerreau for 30% exclusively for Little Known Box subscribers on the Strawberry or Apple Zerreau for £5.49 instead of £7.95 – enter ‘LKB16’ code valid until 31st Agust 2016.
Balance Me Face Mask – This face mask can be used as a reviving exfoliating face wash or as a soothing, intensive treatment mask to replenish moisture and luminosity. Balance Me Radiance mask contains purifying kaolin clay to eliminate impurities and a fruit acid complex to restore a healthy glow. This mask also has rosemary, palma rosa, lavender and Roman chamomile oils to help smooth and soothe your skin and leave your skin feeling soft and nourished. I absolutely love face masks and have many in my collection so I can’t wait to try this one out as it sounds wonderful. Visit www.balanceme.co.uk – use code LKB15 for 15% off your order.
Odylique is a UK family run brand formally called Essential care. Odylique never test on animals and all products are certified to meet strict Soil Association standards. Now I have my firm favourite mascaras but I do like to try new ones. I often struggle to find one that doesn’t smudge under my eyes, and I have to say this one was pretty good at not doing that….but it still did slightly by the end of the day. Now it had been a very hot day, and I haven’t truly found one that doesn’t. The bristles on this brush is lovely and makes for an easy application. For me I found the scent of this to be quite strong which I wasn’t expecting, the mascara incorporates aloe vera, calendula and sea buckthorn. For people who like to source makeup that is ethically produced and organic then this is ideal for you. At £17.50 its slightly more than your standard drugstore mascara but as it has no synthetic chemicals and fibres this is this mascara will be much kinder to your little peepers! Visit Odylique and use the code LKB10 for 10% your entire order valid until 31st August 2016.
So like before I stand by my testament to this being a great monthly beauty subscription box. I feel the size and amount of products you get is great for the money. I did get sent this box for review purposes but I have absolutely enjoyed using the products and would say its sits well amongst similarly priced beauty boxes. You can buy a one-off box for £15.95 or subscribe monthly for £14.95 or to one of their packages to save money. So if you are after lots of beauty treats each month from little known brands then its well worth checking out Little Known Box.
I’ll be back soon with my next blog which will be fitness themed.
