So one of the things I get asked about and messaged about the most is my favourite foundation. Anyone that actively follows me knows it’s the Estee Lauder Double wear Foundation. It’s a long wearing makeup with a 15 hour staying power and looks flawless, it lasts well through heat, humidity and even exercising! It also has SPF 10 in it.
Now I’ve used this on and off for 10 years, it’s a full coverage foundation that buildable too to really hide those annoying blemishes. At £30 a pop it is a little pricey but I feel it’s so worth it. As I have found no other foundation that offers the same flawless finish and coverage with a great selection of shades. If you can afford to spend a few pennies then its toally worth it. I don’t tend to have big splurges on makeup as my budget just doesn’t allow working part time but this is a treat I buy myself when needed.
In the winter months I wear Dawn and in the summer when I’m tanned I like Tawny or Rattan. Estee lauder have also extended their double wear range and I have tried their double wear light foundation which I also really like. It’s a great foundation for summer but offering the same quality and great finish but it’s just a little lighter on the skin making great medium coverage and letting your skin breathe a little more and some of your natural freckles showcase on your make up!
Over the years I have tried many many foundations to try an find a cheaper alternative that compares well or lives up to the double wear Foundation but I just haven’t managed to find anything thats a true dupe. My latest discovery that I feel is the closet is the Maybelline FIT Me which offers a matte and poreless finish. It’s definately not as creamy as double wear but I do love the finish and product overall and at a fraction of the price it’s a really good compromise for everyday use. I will pop a blog review up on this soon.
So if you suffer from scaring, blemishes, acne or any skin condition that you wish to cover effortlessly then I would absolutely recommend the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation to give you the confidence that you need to feel happy in your skin. I tend to suffer from scaring as my breakouts tend to be fairly large blemishes and they take forever to heal to to a health condition I have which can be frustrating at times.
I think my only thing I don’t like about this foundation is that it doesn’t have a pump, and I just don’t see why it doesn’t have one. I have over poured this foundation many times. I now just put my finger over the end of the bottle and use my finger as a stopper and then dab the product on my face and then use a stippling brush or beauty blender to buff it into the skin.
So i’m a big fan of both the light and the normal doublewear. Here’s a photo to show the difference between the double wear light (top) and the normal Double wear.
So if you are on the look out for a new foundation this it’s definately worth going to the Estee Lauder counter and asking to be colour matched and they will give you a sample to take home to try. I have always found the Estee Lauder counter ladies so incredibly helpful….unlike a recent experience I had at Bobbi Brown.
For me foundation really sets the scene to how good your make up looks and the way you feel about yourself when she face up to front the day and for me Estee Lauder would be my number 1 makeup product and I’m just about to repurchase for the I don’t know many times it is!
Estee Lauder do have rewards programme and if you sign up online you often see great deals or multiple free samples you would get if you order online. But for me I like to go into Boots when they are offering a great promotion if you buy two products you get a great free gift….and I’m holding out for one of those now just hoping the last of my foundation will see me through!
If you have found a good dupe for this foundation I would love to know, drop me a message in the comments box!
