Fragrance Direct Make Up *

Hi Dolls,

Being a beauty blogger I can spend hours online drooling over makeup and watching hours and hours of you tube make up tutorials, so I love finding websites that sell a wide selection of brands for you to choose from.

Fragrance Direct is a leading UK beauty retailer and is used by many, they stock over 14,000 products for 600 big-name brands, designer labels and high street favourites. Don’t be confused by the name, you may be forgiven that they solely sell fragrances but since fragrance direct started in 2013 they have been so successful they expanded to offering all things beauty too!

I was kind enough to be asked to order a few make up products from their site to review, and let me tell you I had a hard time trying to decide what to choose! So lets take a look at see what I ordered.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty First Base Foundation – £25.00

Being a huge foundation fan I love to try new foundations and although I hadn’t come across this particular foundation before I do already have some Joan Collins makeup in my collection, so I was intrigued to try this out. It’s been compared to Chanel Pro Lumiere foundation that was discontinued a while ago. First Base is a lightweight formula makes it fabulous for mature skin and with fine lines and wrinkles of which mine is fats becoming and it gives you a nice glow.

First base foundation describes itself as skin care in a foundation. It creates a smooth, flawless complexion with a radiant, natural finish, whilst Re-AgeTM Complex charges the skin with youthful energy, to help increase collagen levels. It’s light on the skin with excellent adhesion. Includes Hyaluronic Acid & UV filters and is Paraben free.

For me this is a lovely foundation and goes on weightlessly, though the coverage is fairly light to medium I would say. I generally favour a fuller coverage personally but on skin days I have found myself reaching for this quite often. The colour I chose Warm Medium was also slightly too pale for my summer colouring, but that’s the risk you take when trying to guess foundations colour choices online. I did watch quite a few you tube videos about this foundation to try to work out my colour but I still didn’t get it right.

That being said, this will be a lovely foundation for fall, when my skin is paler. I have also mixed this foundation quite a lot with my Estee Lauder double wear and it really gives a good coverage without being too heavy – so I actually like this combination as it offers the coverage of double wear with the lightweight feel that the first base provides.

 

Joan Collins Impeccable Finish Loose Powder – £24.00

Impeccable Finish Loose Powder is a light-as-air translucent powder with a chameleon effect that mimics the natural skin tones beneath. Velvety soft, it blends impeccably to fix make-up and give a long-lasting finish. It masks imperfections, flatters the skin and helps prevent make-up from accumulating in the tiny expression lines on the face.

I have recently switched over from using pressed powders to loose and I really favour the finish of a loose powder now. I have this in translucent and it sets my makeup beautifully and helps the longevity of my makeup helping to stay in place all day. It doesn’t sit in my fine lines at all and is fab for baking my makeup too. A little bit of products goes a really long way and I’ve been really impressed with the luxurious feeling of the Joan Collins Timeless beauty makeup packaging too. Though I’m not so keen on the outer packaging as I think it somewhat cheapens the product. Bar that it does look and feel like quite a luxurious brand and has a remarkable similarity looks wise to Charlotte Tilbury.

You would be forgiven for thinking that this range is aimed at the more mature, but I don’t consider myself to be an older woman at 37 and I have absolutely enjoyed using the products from this range and would happily purchase more products from the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range.

 

Lord and Berry Magic Brow Eyeliner – £14.00

MAGIC BROW is a smart, highly pigmented, two-color brow pencil to enhance and define the natural shape of your brows. Draw with the marble tip then blend with the integrated applicator and shape for well-groomed, professional looking results.

This eyebrow pencil is a brand new concept to me and I love the other that is a blend of multiple shade to give you a natural brows with a trio of shades missed together to give a nautral defined brow. I tend to use brow pomades, but I have a good selections pencils and shadow products too. I wouldn’t say that this is smudge proof, not many pencil are but I do love the choice of colours and they way it gives you natural looking brows. For £14.00 I’m not sure I would repurchase this as you can get some amazing brow products now for really reasonable prices but I do still like this product.
